The essay ‘India through a traveller’s eyes‘ was written by Pearl S. Buck. She was born in 1892 in America of a missionary parents but reared in China & taught in a Chinese university. She was awarded with Nobel prize in 1938.She had also learnt Buddhism from his father. She wrote ‘Come, My Beloved’. It is an extract from ‘My several world’.

In this travelogue, Buck has described her visit to India. The very word colour reminds her of the variety of India. Europeans means white barbarian are invaders of Kashmir. Indians belong to Caucasian race. She had an Indian doctor. She wants to see & listen to the young intellectuals & poor farmers. She says religion is ever present in Indian life. The land between Bombay & Madras is famished.

She stayed with an Indian family in a village & feels the real India. She says Indians are very closed to the nature. Thus, Pearl S. Buck shows her love to the people of India & makes India famous in all over the world. Such a great American writer passed away in 1973.

“India through a traveller’s eyes” निबंध पीयर्ल एस बक ने लिखा है। इनका जन्म 1892 ई. में अमेरिका में एक धर्म प्रचारक माता-पिता के यहाँ हुआ लेकिन पली-बढ़ी चीन में और चीनी विश्वविद्यालय में पढ़ाई थी। वे नोबेल पुरूस्कार से 1938 ई. में नवाजी गई। उन्होंने बौद्ध धर्म को अपने पिता से सिखा। यह पाठ ‘माई सेवरल बर्ड’ से लिया गया है।

इस सफरनाम में, बक ने अपनी भारत की यात्रा को वर्णन किया है। शब्द ‘रंग’ उनको भारत की विभिन्नता की याद दिलाती है। युरोपियन काश्मीर के आक्रमण कारी थे। भारतीय मुख्यतः श्वेत जाति से संबंध रखते हैं। उनके पास एक भारतीय डॉक्टर था। वह ताजमहल तथा फतेहपुर सिकरी नहीं बल्कि युवा बुद्धिजीवी तथा गरीब किसान को सुनने तथा देखने आई थी। वह कहती है कि भारतीय जीवन में धर्म हर जगह उपस्थित है। मद्रास तथा बम्बई के बीच की जमीन बंजर थी वह एक भारतीय परिवार के यहाँ गाँव में रूकती है और वासतविक भारत को अनुभव करती है।

औसतन जीवनकाल भरत में मात्र 27 वर्ष थी। वह कहती है कि भारतीय प्राकृतिक के बहुत नजदीक होते हैं। इस प्रकार, पियर्ल एस बक ने भारत के लोग के प्रति अपना प्यार दिखाया है और भारत को पुरे विष्व में प्रसिद्ध बनाया। ऐसे महान अमेरिकी लेखिका 1973 ई. में गुजर गयी।
